justin mun, ma | program manager, behavioral health

Justin is originally from Garden Grove, California and moved to Chicago in July 2021. He earned his B.A. in Sociology from the University of Southern California and an M.A. in Social Work, Social Policy, and Social Administration with a focus on health administration and policy from the University of Chicago. Prior to graduate school, Justin worked on federal and statewide electoral campaigns across the country, where he specialized in grassroots organizing and political research. His personal and professional experiences on the campaign trail inspired him to pursue a master's degree and transition to a career in advancing health equity for communities of color.

During his first year in graduate school, Justin interned at Hanul Family Alliance, where he focused on developing an affordable housing database and guide for clients and provided direct client assistance for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. The following summer, Justin interned at the Center for Asian Health Equity as an Erikson Fellow, where he worked with the Behavioral Health team and produced four mental health training modules for communities of color in Chicago. Most recently, Justin was an Analyst Intern at the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General. In this role, he collaborated with fellow Analysts to evaluate Medicaid/Medicare services and researched Federal policies to examine their impacts on HHS health care programs.

In his spare time, Justin likes to spend time with his partner and friends, check out different restaurants in Chicago, read, watch movies, and travel. He is obsessed with the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
