The Chicago Dept of Public Health reports that new CDC data shows that smoking among CPS high school students is down. According to Youth Risk Behavioral Surveillance (YRBS) data, in 2013, 10.7% of high school students smoked a cigarette within the last 30 days. This number represents a more than 20% decrease in youth smoking since 2011 and a nearly 60% drop since 2001. New data for 2013 also show the use of cigars, cigarillos, snuff, and other tobacco products is down.
