About AHC and HEPP Suburban

The Asian Health Coalition (AHC) is a grassroots organization, created by community members and health care providers in December 1996. AHC received non-profit status in 1998. Today, the coalition is composed of a diverse array of community-based organizations, health care providers, and public health officials. Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in Illinois through advocacy, technical assistance, education, and community-based research.

The Hepatitis B Education and Prevention Program (HEPP), was expanded to the suburbs of Chicago with a grant from the Centers for Disease Control to reach the AAPI communities in Suburban Cook County as well as the DuPage and Kane counties. The AHC will work in collaboration with various AAPI community-based organizations and the Illinois and Cook County Department of Public Health to educate the population on hepatitis prevention, locations for low cost screening, vaccines, and treatment.

Clinical Referral Directory

We are compiling a directory of culturally and linguistically appropriate service providers who can provide HBV screening, immunization, treatment, and other primary care services to Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) individuals in the Suburban Cook County and surrounding areas. The directory will be made available to the public as a free community resource. icon HepB_Directory_2010.pdf (14373 KB)
